Background of the Study
In Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, secondary schools face challenges with school bus routes, including inefficiency, increased fuel costs, and time wasted in transportation (Garba & Musa, 2023). The application of GPS and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to school bus route planning can optimize these routes, reducing operational costs, time, and fuel consumption. AI-based route optimization tools can consider factors such as traffic patterns, road conditions, and student pick-up and drop-off locations. This study will explore the potential of using AI and GPS to optimize school bus routes, improving the efficiency of student transportation in Birnin Kebbi.
Statement of the Problem
Inefficient school bus routes result in higher operational costs and longer travel times for students in Birnin Kebbi. Current route planning methods fail to maximize efficiency and often neglect factors like real-time traffic updates and student distribution.
